Managing Partner at Wealth Management Alliance. 27 years in alternative funds, hedge fund hosting, and UHNW private wealth in Singapore

About

I'm Steve Knabl, Managing Partner at Wealth Management Alliance (WMA), a Singapore-based multi-family office with two distinct capabilities: serving ultra-high-net-worth clients and their families on the private wealth side, and providing a regulated hosting platform for hedge funds and institutional wealth firms looking to establish or expand their presence and business in Singapore.

WMA bridges both worlds, the sophistication of institutional alternative fund management and the personalised service that UHNW families expect. For international managers who want an institutional, credible, operationally sound Singapore footprint without building it from scratch, we offer the infrastructure, regulatory framework, and local expertise to make that happen efficiently.

I've spent 27 years in financial services — trading, alternative funds, hedge fund operations, and private wealth management. I started my career at Swissquote in 1999, Switzerland's first independent online Bank, and spent 16 years building and running Swiss-Asia's Financial Services hosting platform before joining WMA.

That's a long time in markets. Long enough to have seen multiple cycles, multiple crises, and plenty of ideas that looked brilliant until they weren't.

Field Notes is where I share experience, what I'm observing across hedge funds, wealth management, macroeconomics, geopolitics, and the forces reshaping how capital moves around the world. It's my outlet for thinking out loud, and a way of staying connected with the broader industry conversation.

I'm based in Singapore and speak regularly at industry forums across Asia. If you're a fund manager exploring a Singapore presence, a family office looking for an experienced partner, or simply someone who thinks seriously about markets and capital — I'm always open to a conversation.
